Review commonly asked questions for our Rutgers Football tailgating at SHI Stadium:
Your tailgate can start up to 4 hours before kickoff. Parking lots technically open 5 hours prior to kickoff for Rutgers football games. Our team enters the lots early as possible to secures your tailgating area. There is no option to begin earlier due to setup time.
Man Cave Events sets up tailgate parties in one of 2 locations for Rutgers football:
A) Orange Lot (aka RAC Lot or Jersey Mikes Arena Lot) – ideal for groups arriving without parking passes looking to pay day of. This lot is the only lot that allows trailers. There is a 10 minute shuttle ride to and from the stadium for the game when parking in this lot. Shuttles run continuously before and after the game and drop off at the practice bubble next to the stadium. Shuttles have priority roadway access after the game so this can many times be the faster lot to exit from even though it is the furthest lot from Stadium on Livingston Campus.
B) Black Lot – located on Busch campus at Bartholomew & Brett Rd, this lot is a 15 minute walk to the stadium and will take you through the “Boardwalk” area on the way. With ample room for setup this is a great middle ground setup location. Production Fee reflective of additional costs for MCE to setup in this lot.
For spacing and logistical reasons, we do not setup tailgates in Scarlet, White, Yellow, Blue or Purple lot regardless of customer possession of passes, Customers may park in lot of their choice and walk or shuttle over to tailgate area.
Group size will vary based on lot and setup location (Orange = up to 100, Black = up to 50, Yellow = up to 20 guests). Catering packages are be subject to a 15 guest minimum charge.
During Game: No, all tailgating must conclude at kickoff.
Postgame: Yes, however we charge for the time our team remains on site even though during game tailgating is not allowed.
Absolutely! Most of our clients do. Although we do offer several catering packages to provide a turnkey tailgating solution, you can certainly choose to do your own food. We provide a grill, grilling utensils and essential pack with paper plates/napkins and plastic utensils/cups either way. We do not provide Grill Chef services for customer provided food for liability and food safety reasons.
